What we're doing right now

2011 has been a busy year for SW. Following a successful season of Dinosaurs Alive! at Melbourne Docklands, we began preparing for the Sydney season. We're delighted to announce that Dinosaurs Alive! will open at Luna Park in January 2012 for a strictly limited season. The Sydney exhibition will feature additional activities for visitors as well as an incredible 5.5M long replica skeleton of a Triceratops!

On the publishing side Ruri is working with Yasuko Senda in Japan and Lana Logam in Melbourne, to design and publish the English translation of Yasuko's book, Karakuri Ningyo (Karakuri Automota). This is a history of Karakuri (mechanised puppets or dolls) that date from the 16th Century and form a significant part in the development of modern robotics! www.karakuri.info

China and India are calling and we have been busy developing plans to bring exhibitions from around the world to both countries. We are also working with Chengdu Museums to introduce antiquity collections from the renowned Jinsha site www.jinshasitemuseum.com and SanXingDui Museum www.sxd.cn to institutions in Europe, Australasia and North America.

2012 will see StageWorks establish an office in Chengdu, Sichuan PRC and Hyderabad, India with exhibitions also planned for South Africa and New Zealand.

At home in Fremantle we are closer to establishing the Dialogue in the Dark (DiD) experience in Australia www.dialogue-in-the-dark.com. We are planning to commence DiD Executive Leadership and Management training workshops, in the second half of 2012.

A Birthday for Theatre!

On February 25th, each year, the world celebrates the birthday of Commedia dell’Arte.

On this date in 1545, a Commedia dell’Arte troupe in Padua, Italy, became the world’s
first incorporated theatre company, and Western professional theatre was born!
